This is awkward and tough. Honestly, I give your friend a lot of credit. She has probably had a small crush on you for a while, but just couldn't tell you. This is her way of telling you. Have a serious discussion face-to-face. My advice to keep your friendship going is to decide that you will either give you two a shot at being more than friends, or that you will make it very clear that you love her as just a friend.
