Why do people diss mc hammer so much?

I mean jay- z just took a shot at hammer talking about how he went broke and hammer took offense to it. For people who don't know MC Hammer was never broke he does not have millions but he has way more than the average person. Not to mention that he went broke because he gave back so much to his community in Oakland so it's not like he lost his money for a stupid reason. He also paved the way for all these rappers who are out now and they all suck. So why do people diss him so much they don't even know the whole story. I think he deserves a lot more respect.
