Do you reckon there will ever be machines like the terminator?

In the future, maybe 10 years or 50 years. I can see how fast our technology is advancing, not long ago on the T.V i saw a robot in germany that could stand up, talk, look around and recognise different things like tables chairs and toy cars all on its own accord. i know it might sound absurd but do you ever think it could be possible.
