Is brown algae safe for aquarium and plants?

algae is harmless and even beneficial to have, its just an eye sore for us people. the fish like it. however, sc it off the plants everynow and then so the plants can get light. brow algae is usually an indicator of insufficient lighting. give 10 hours of light daily. too much will give you green algae, too less will give you brown.
